Hi, I’m Amy

What got me snappin’: For starters, I had the blessed opportunity to be born and raised in one of the most breathtaking states in the US, known as Colorado! Luckily, Colorado naturally produces and attracts some of the most photogenic specimens in the nation, as well, which is half my battle!

In all seriousness, few experiences bring more joy to me than when I have made someone feel fabulous. The beauty of this great world is made to be captured, and I am blessed with myriad opportunities to do so around every corner. My travels and the beautiful people around me sparked my initial interest in photography, but accelerated especially with the birth of my daughter–and I am so grateful! Thank goodness for encouraging friends, because this also fuels my passion more than they know.

My goals: It is my honor to preserve the complexities of honest human interaction, and to capture my subjects in a fresh perspective. Maybe you recently got engaged and you want to shout it from the mountaintops; maybe generations have multiplied in your family and you want to capture the rare moment you are all together; perhaps your daughter just took her first steps—-let me be there to immortalize your moment! Whatever the occasion, I look forward to the opportunity to be a part of it, and to help freeze a few precious moments that can never be relived.

As they say, life is fleeting, so let’s pause it when we can.

Random Career Facts

  • I have a BA degree in English from CSU, and yes, I was able to land a real job.
  • I used to write about polyps and other fun things as a clinical writer and editor, and for a travel publishing company before that–another passion of mine.
  • I love to photograph people, and love it even more when they are excited to be photographed. So, throw caution to the wind, and smile ’til your face cramps!
  • The photos you see on my site are, indeed, real human beings, and they all did their own stunts.
  • No animals were hurt in the making of my photos.
  • Bob Barker would approve, because all my animals are spayed and neutered…Except for my husband.

Photo Shoot Tips and Tricks

  • #1. Relax. The pictures will turn out so much better if you heed this advice. I have actually had clients who have taken shots before the shoot to achieve this goal. Get creative, but make sure you have a DD, and that you’re obeying all laws! 😉
  • Don’t fear the creeper. That’s me–the one with the camera. Embrace me–but not physically (unless your name is Ryan Gosling). Talking to me helps relax you, so spill it, Sister.
  • Smile genuinely. This is strongly encouraged. Pick something on my face to laugh at if you have to. No picture will look good unless you look natural.
  • Wear what makes you feel incredible. Pick a color scheme, and try not to clash. Neutral colors are always safe, but safe can be boring, too. I love it when people color coordinate. (e.g. one person could wear plaid purple and sunflower yellow, and another wear muted stripes of purple and sunflower yellow, and still another could wear solid purple, etc.). Scarves, sweater vests, button-ups, even dickies–get creative! Show me that artistic flare!
  • Optional: bring a change of clothes, or certain props. Or, if there is a shirt that you think would contrast the background well, bring it! Wear colors that pop, but don’t wear patterns that distract too much from your beautiful face.
  • Scour Pinterest, but trust your own artistic talent. We all do it. Just don’t get too caught up on a shot list. I typically set up a shot and see where it goes from there. Play. Keep it casual. Those are always the best shots.
  • Tell me what your overall goal is with the shoot, whether it’s to capture your newborn’s fleeting expressions, or to grab one last photo with the family before someone moves away. Who is the highlight? What do you want to remember forever?
  • Share your ideas. Don’t be afraid to tell me if you have a pose or idea for a shot. Very often, great things can come from creative collaboration!
